Homeschooling Breakfast Club Younger Children & Families

  • stoke heath community centre (map)

Breakfast, friendships and support for the whole family.

The Autism & ADHD Advocates CIC is introducing a welcoming Homeschooling Breakfast Club at Stoke Heath Community Centre.

These relaxed, informal sessions provide an opportunity for home-educating families to come together, enjoy breakfast, make connections and access support.

Who is it for?

The club welcomes families with younger home-educated children, including children who are neurodivergent or have additional needs.

Whether you're already home educating, just starting out or exploring home education, you're welcome to join us.

Specialist support for parents and carers

One of the key benefits of the Breakfast Club is the opportunity for parents and carers to speak directly with Sarah-Jane McGarry, Neurodiversity and Executive Function Specialist and founder of The Autism & ADHD Advocates CIC.

Parents can ask questions, discuss challenges and develop a better understanding of their child's needs and behaviours.

Conversations can cover a wide range of topics, including:

  • Autism, ADHD and neurodivergence

  • Executive functioning – working memory, inhibitory control and flexible thinking

  • Sensory processing and emotional regulation

  • Understanding emotions and alexithymia

  • Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA)

  • Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria (RSD)

  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

  • Anxiety, behaviour and everyday challenges

  • SEND, education and supporting learning at home

There is no formal presentation or set agenda. Parents can raise the issues that matter to their family, ask questions, share experiences and gain practical guidance in a supportive environment.

Social opportunities for children

While parents and carers connect and access support, children have opportunities to socialise with others in a relaxed and welcoming setting.

Activities may include board games, Connect Four, creative activities, problem-solving challenges and cooperative games.

The focus is on developing friendships, communication, confidence and social interaction, without the pressures of a formal classroom environment.
