Understanding Executive Functioning in Autism & ADHD – Online Session

Join us for a relaxed online session with The Autism & ADHD Advocates CIC, focusing on Executive Functioning in Autism and ADHD.

Executive functions are the skills our brain uses to help us manage everyday life — things like getting started, remembering what we need to do, staying focused, ignoring distractions, controlling impulses, managing time and adapting when things change.

During this session, we will look at what executive functioning is, how difficulties can show up in everyday life, and why someone may appear not to listen, not to try, forget things, struggle to get started or become overwhelmed.

We will also look at the three key areas of executive functioning:

  • Working Memory

  • Inhibitory Control

  • Cognitive Flexibility / Flexible Thinking

The aim is to help you understand what may be happening underneath the behaviour, rather than simply focusing on what we can see.

The session is informal and there is no pressure to speak. Cameras are optional, and you are very welcome to simply listen.

Suitable for parents, carers, neurodivergent adults and anyone wanting a better understanding of autism, ADHD and executive functioning.
