Understanding Your Child’s Sensory System

Free SEN Parent Support Session

Does your child struggle with noise, clothing, food textures, busy places, touch, smells or changes in their environment? Or do they constantly seek movement, pressure, chewing, climbing or sensory input?

This free session is for parents and carers of children and young people with SEN/SEND who want to better understand sensory processing and how it can affect everyday life.

During the session, we will explore how a child’s sensory system can influence their emotions, behaviour, attention, routines and ability to cope at home, in school and in the community.

You will gain a clearer understanding of why your child may become overwhelmed, avoid certain experiences or seek sensory input, as well as practical ideas to support them in daily life.

This session is suitable for parents and carers whether your child has a diagnosis, is awaiting assessment, or you are simply beginning to recognise possible additional needs.

Date: Tuesday 7 July 2026
Time: 9:30am to 11:30am
Location: Ocean Room, The Moat Family Hub, Deedmore Road, Coventry, CV2 1EQ
Cost: Free

Please note: this is a parent and carer support session, not an activity session for children.

Delivered by The Autism & ADHD Advocates CIC, supporting families to better understand SEN, autism, ADHD, executive functioning, sensory needs and behaviour.
