At The Autism & ADHD Advocates CIC, we deliver high-quality, neuro-affirming professional training for any organisation, service or workplace.
Autistic and ADHD people are part of every community. Many individuals are autistic or ADHD but may not yet have access to assessment or understanding. Our training provides professionals with the knowledge, confidence and compassion they need to support neurodivergent people safely and effectively.
Our sessions combine lived experience with evidence-based insight. We empower teams to work confidently with autistic and ADHD individuals by explaining how the neurodivergent brain processes information, emotion and stress — and how this understanding transforms behaviour, relationships and outcomes.
WHY THIS TRAINING MATTERS
Most professionals regularly interact with autistic or ADHD individuals — often without realising it.
A lack of understanding can lead to:
Miscommunication
Escalation
Reduced trust
Missed needs
Negative outcomes for families and services
This training bridges that gap by helping staff:
Understand autism and ADHD through a neurobiological and neuro-affirming lens
Recognise how differences in communication, motivation, focus, sensory processing and executive functioning shape behaviour
Respond compassionately and safely
Reduce conflict and escalation
Create environments where people feel understood rather than judged
Even small increases in understanding can have a powerful impact on outcomes across education, health, criminal justice and community services.
Training Content
Our programme explores the areas professionals tell us they struggle with most:
EXECUTIVE FUNCTIONING
Understanding planning, organisation, working memory, decision-making, motivation and emotional regulation — and why differences in these processes influence behaviour and learning.
SENSORY PROCESSING
How autistic and ADHD individuals experience sensory input, including sensory overload, sensory seeking/avoiding, burnout, and how environments impact behaviour and wellbeing.
UNDERSTANDING ADHD
Executive functioning differences, dopamine regulation, motivation, task initiation, emotional impulsivity, behavioural presentation and co-occurring conditions — and how these affect daily life for ADHD individuals.
UNDERSTANDING AUTISM
Communication differences, social interaction, sensory profiles, restricted/repetitive behaviours, anxiety-driven responses, and neuro-affirming approaches that help autistic people feel safe and understood.
SUPPORTING NEURODIVERGENT PEOPLE
Creating supportive, safe environments that reduce escalation, improve communication and strengthen relationships between professionals, families and neurodivergent individuals.
